Last week, MV Frida successfully completed a 1,600-tonne tandem lift test, confirming the full lifting capability of SAL’s new Orca Class vessel. During the test, both cranes lifted 800 tonnes each using water-filled test bags at maximum possible outreach on the starboard side.

The operation confirmed that the vessel meets all structural, stability and heeling requirements under peak load conditions. By utilising the vessel’s advanced anti-heeling system, the heavy loads were safely counterbalanced throughout the lift, while the vessel’s integrated stability pontoon ensured high stability even at low draft.

The successful execution of this demanding test is a strong validation of the Orca Class design and its performance capabilities, reinforcing SAL’s commitment to safe, efficient and future-ready heavy lift solutions.

SAL would like to thank all teams involved for their professionalism and the safe completion of this important test.
