Combi Lift just sent its first cargo through the Northern Sea Route. On board the heavy lift vessel Hilke of Combi Lift’s sister company SAL Heavy Lift, the precious cargo took this special route. Under beautiful polar lights, the ship sailed eastbound from the United Kingdom to Sakhalin, Russia.
Traversing the Northern Sea Route comes with its challenges such as adverse weather conditions with temperatures of -12°C and bad visibility as well as enormous navigational challenges due to the short day light and the necessity to observe the ice conditions at all times. It also presents convincing advantages such as significant saving of transport time.
