Chief Officer (m/f/d)

Our company’s global activities focus mainly on the comprehensive ship management of our own and our clients’ tonnage. Our 270 office employees and 2,900 regular crew members are currently taking care of a diversified fleet of more than 90 units – heavy lift carriers, bulkers, tankers, dock ships, container feeders, tugs, barges, offshore vessels, catamaran/ferry. For the operation of a catamaran/ferry with daily trips between Cuxhaven – Helgoland we are looking for a Chief Officer (m/f/d).

Our offer:

You will be working in a catamaran/ferry  that will be sailing in a daily basis between Cuxhaven and Helgoland, 1 round trip during weekdays and 2 round trips during weekends. Each way takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
It has  2 decks with their own catering options with a full passenger capacity of 272.

Your responsibilities:

  • Keeping safe navigational watch.
  • Assisting the Master during manoeuvring 
  • Ship specific operations and related safety.
  • Ensuring that all crew follow safe working practices.
  • Identifying potential ship hazards associated with deck operations and advising the Master accordingly.
  • Notifying the Master immediately of any defect, which may affect ship safety or put at risk the marine environment.
  • Investigating incidents and applying corrective actions as agreed with the Master.
  • The maintenance of deck equipment, safety, lifesaving, firefighting, pollution prevention equipment and hull.
  • Maintenance and filing of all documents and reports related to the deck department and equipment.
  • Responsible for the safety of passengers and crew.

Your profile:

  • You have experience in ferries/cruise ships/yachts/ and all necessary STCW qualifications are at hand
  • Ideally, you already gained experience in the Catamaran/Ferry Industry.

In addition, you have the following knowledge and characteristics:

  • Fluent in German (B2)
  • Social and team player
