Commercial Manager (m/f/d)

SAL Heavy Lift, a part of the Harren Group and a member of the JSI Alliance, is one of the world’s leading carriers specialised in sea transport of heavy lift and project cargo. The JSI Alliance is owning and operating a versatile fleet of 50 advanced project cargo vessels with a lifting capacity of up to 3,000 t SWL. To strengthen the JSI Alliance Commercial Team in our office in Hamburg and/or Schiedam, we are looking for a Commercial Manager (m/f/d) with a strong focus on project business and customer engagement.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Day to day contact with our clients, particularly in the context of project planning and execution
  • Evaluation of incoming enquiries
  • Key account management and client relationship maintenance for ongoing and upcoming projects
  • Research of projects and clients within key market segments
  • Prepare and negotiate tenders, costing sheets, indications, offers and contracts - often as part of complex project set-ups
  • Answer client requests and send out tailored offers for project shipments
  • Prepare and present transport and installation solutions to our clients in line with project requirements
  • Support tender management, pre-qualify SAL to projects
  • Data maintenance and controlling, obtain reports and lists to support project tracking
  • Active business development of new clients and/or projects within your assigned segments
  • Coordinate sales activities within the Commercial Team both, in Schiedam and Hamburg and with our offices abroad
  • Active communication with other departments, oversea offices and third parties to ensure seamless project coordination

 

Your profile:

  • Preferable minimum of five years' experience in the offshore shipping business, preferably in the offshore heavy lift segment or comparable experience in sales and acquisition 
  • Experience with offshore transport and/or semi-submersible/ deck carriers is preferred
  • Strong understanding of project-driven logistics and client needs
  • Ability to work independently and structured, also under pressure
  • Highly motivated, flexible and team player
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Good command of English written and verbal (Dutch, German and other languages are a plus)
  • Strong handling of MS Office
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Service and client-orientated mindset, with an interest in complex project environments
